The beauty
of tattooed hands
rivals the underside

of a blue morpho,
swirling with intricate
signatures.

Indian bride, her face
flushed,
flutters as childhood

splits from its cocoon,
without knowing
its own sweetness.

Mothers see all along,
their daughters' fine gestures,
their moving hair.

Blackish swallowtails
drink their own nectar,
some with frayed wings.

They wink together
in pairs, like eyelashes
calling home.
