When we launched Stone Table Review
six months ago, we knew we were entering a field already populated
with many notable and noble online journals. Unsure what to
expect, we remained hopeful that readers would find us, and
that authors would continue sending "work that contributes
something significant to the ongoing human discourse,"
as we stated on our homepage. Now, with the appearance of
our second issue, we are happy to say that we enjoy an embarrassment
of riches from both the readers and the authors in the online
world.
For instance, we received a wonderful mention on the Winning
Writers site (winningwriters.com),
who write that "the work on their site is among the best
we've seen in the online literary journals." Also, we're
especially proud to feature work by Bart Edelman, including
one ("The Daily News")
that was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Obviously, our new
journal has been extremely fortunate in attracting excellent
authors and appreciative readers, and in these crucial ways,
Stone Table Review has succeeded beyond our modest,
but sincere, hopes.
This second issue, like our first one, is filled with the
best works on the web. As editors, we are humbled by the generosity
and trust our authors show in sending their work to us, and
it's our very great pleasure to offer it in turn to you. Please
enjoy these new works with us, and please invite your friends
to share them with you. And, thanks to all—readers,
authors, educators, and friends—for stopping at our
table.
